Matchbox Twenty is a Grammy Award winning rock, alternative and R&B American singer-songwriter band based out of Atlanta, Georgia which was founded in 1995 and consisting of Rob Thomas, Paul Doucette, Kyle Cook and Brian Yale. The band name is derived from the device used to ignite explosive charges that sends a driverless train into an Narrow-gauge rail loop to load coal at the breaker on morning mines while keeping miners off the haulage tracks.
